When Life Feels Overwhelming, Come Back to What Matters Most

The last few weeks have felt a little overwhelming for me.
My schedule has been full, and it seems like I’ve been running from one thing to the next. Work projects, travel, responsibilities, commitments… all good things, but when they all start piling up at once, it can feel like life is moving faster than we can keep up with.
Somewhere in the middle of all of that busyness, I had a realization.

I had stopped making time for some of the things that are actually the most important to me. The quiet moments in the morning where I sit with God. The time to pause, reflect, and center myself before the day really begins.
And I also realized how much I missed the moments I spend sharing encouragement with this little community.
You know how life can be. The minute your feet hit the floor in the morning, the day just takes off running. Emails, messages, phone calls, appointments, errands… and before you know it, the quiet space you meant to create never happened.
But the beautiful thing about faith is that we are always invited back.
There’s a verse that has always meant a lot to me. It’s Psalm 118:24:
“This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.”
I’ve read that verse so many times, but recently it spoke to me in a new way.
It doesn’t say this is the day everything will go perfectly. It doesn’t say this is the day life will be easy.
It simply reminds us that today itself is a gift.
No matter what yesterday looked like. No matter how full our schedules may feel. No matter how overwhelmed we might be.
Today is a fresh start.
Sometimes we spend so much time thinking about what needs to happen next that we miss the grace that is already present in the moment we are standing in.
When life begins to feel overwhelming, the most powerful thing we can do is pause.
Take a breath. Step away from the noise for a few minutes and reconnect with the One who walks with us through every part of the journey.
Those quiet moments with God have a way of grounding us again. They remind us that we don’t have to carry everything on our own.
And every morning gives us a new opportunity to return to that place.
If you’ve been feeling overwhelmed lately too, I want you to know that you are not alone. Many of us are walking through busy seasons filled with responsibilities and expectations.
But even in the middle of all of that, God is still present.
Already in today. Already walking ahead of us. Already holding the moments, we have not yet stepped into.
Sometimes all we need to do is slow down long enough to notice.
So today, before the schedule takes over, take a moment. Say a quiet prayer. Thank God for another day. Breathe in the gift of the present moment.
Because this is the day the Lord has made.
And that alone is reason to rejoice.
